Beach breaks
Beach Breaks in Thailand

If you're taking a Tell Tale trip, but would to relax on one of Thailand's beautiful beaches afterwards, why not add a few days or even a week at a beach resort?

We have handselected (literally) a few resorts throughout Thailand so that there will be one convenient for the location your end your Tell Tale trip and/or time of year. Below are a few of the resorts we work with where we know them personally.

If you are new to Tell Tale Travel, please note tour beach extension service is for those taking one of our itineraries (of minimum 7 days), we are not the people to come to if you're looking for a two week 'fly and flop' holiday!

The Tubkaak, Krabi (best for couples)

The stylish Tubkaak resort is located in the south west of Thailand on the beautiful Andaman coast. It is on the mainland, 40 minutes drive from Krabi (the town, it's still in the large Krabi province) in a secluded spot within a national park.
The beach is one of the most beautiful in the area, with soft sand and has stunning views of Ko Hong, an archipelago of limestone islands.

Although the resort may seem big compared to the accommodation you would have been staying in during your Tell Tale trip, it has less than 50 rooms which is very small in comparison to the general resorts in Thailand. The restaurant is by the beach and has a variety of Thai and western food. It is also possible to walk to restaurants in the few nearby resorts, however, if you're looking for nightlife, this is not the place to find it! You can easily take a taxi to Krabi or the livelier Ao Nang which are about 40 minutes away, but if you do, be aware of a culture shock after having been spoilt at the Tubkaak.

Most of the rooms are set around the sparkling blue pool, are all over 40 sqm and have outdoor space. The grounds are beautiful, with a lot of grass and water features.

The Tubkaak resort is included as part of the itinerary within the Lemongrass Trail and you can extend the stay in that or you can stay here after any of our itineraries. Rest assured you will receive extra-special Tell Tale service..

Tell Tale tip The tub is pronounced as in bathtub, the other way would sound like the Thai word for hitting someone!

Mooban Talay, Ko Samet (couples and families)

Ko Samet (also known as Ko Samed) is an island in the Gulf of Thailand on the eastern side of the country (the same similar as the more popular but very touristy Ko Samui). It is a great location after our elephants, mountains and waterfalls itinerary for couples or families which ends in the Khao Yai area as Ko Samet is easy to get there by road and boat from there.

It is a relatively-quiet island, particularly if you stay away from the busier areas and stay at the Mooban Talay resort towards the north of the island, set on the edge of a national park. The beach is blindingly white, the food delicious, the accommodation nicely decorated, the pool is lovely. The resort is a laid-back one, perfect for honeymooners, older couples and families with children of all ages.

If you'd like to explore, you can take a speedboat trip to snorkel on the outlying islands. It is also easy to get around the island using local transport.

Please note that whilst we at Tell Tale Travel love the Mooban Talay, it is certainly not for those seeking luxury, it is on the edge of a jungle and is tropical and though the accommodation is very comfortable, it is rustic. The feedback from Tell Tale Travel guests who've seen both the Mooban Talay and other resorts on the island is that it is the best fit, however, if you are looking for something luxurious (but will be more European in style) see below.

Ao Phrao, Ko Samet

Set in the north wast of the island in the scenic bar, the Ao Phrao is an upmarket resort set in a shallow bar, with beautiful views at sunset.

The resort has villas up the tropical hillside which have fantastic views over the beach and sea. This is a luxury resort, and best for honeymooners. It may seem European in comparison to some other resorts.
