Days 1-3 Bangkok
Fly out from the UK and feel instantly welcomed once you arrive in Bangkok and are met by one of our trusty drivers. He'll take you to your home away from home, a two-storey private house away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Here you will be guests of a friendly family who live in the house next door and will give you plenty of tips to make the most of your stay. The next day, you'll be picked up by your chauffeur for a tour of the metrpolis, including the major sites. You'll then spend your evening with your hosts dining on typical dishes in a beautifully-landscaped riverside garden.
Days 4-5 North Eastern Thailand
Time to head into the countryside as we whisk you off to the province of Nakorn Ratchasima, gateway to Isan (north eastern Thailand).
Traditionally one of the most rural areas, Isan is not frequented by many visitors. Nakorn Ratchasima truly is beautiful and home to organic farms, sustainable living and
crisp fresh air.
Here you stay with a lovely couple who love to get away from Bangkok and start their mornings watching the enchanting mists over the hills.
You'll have time to settle into your own villa set on a hill overlooking the garden and get to know your hosts over lunch. Then it's time to see the full beauty of the area on an afternoon tour taking in native flora at the nearby flower farms and learning about the organic agriculture here at local vegetable gardens, orchards and vinyards.
Your hosts will also take you out for day in Khao Yai National Park, a UNESCO world heritage site and Thailand's second largest national park. You'll see a variety of habitats there including evergreen forests and grasslands as well as some of the abundant wildlife and birds.
Days 6-9 Northern Thailand
A short flight will take you to hilly northern Thailand where you'll be able to enjoy the hospitality with Mae and family in a village outside Chiang Mai. Mae's husband is a keen gardener and he'll be pleased to show you round his jungle-like plot as well as the local village. Enjoy a day trip to a fascinating eco-village in the nearby hills where you'll be taken on a short walk to see the waterfalls which provide its power. Try a cup of the locally-grown coffee and see the special plants that are only grown in this area such as 'miang' (a rare species of tea) and Aquilaria Crassna, a tree with unusual bark found only in Thailand. Enjoy a final day in northern Thailand taking in the Queen of Thailand's beautiful Botanical Gardens and orchid farms where you'll learn about the plants, both native and exotic species as you wander down garden trails.
