Currently being updated for 2008. Please call 0800 011 2571 for details.

No need to pack your gardening gloves, just your enthusiasm for this garden-lover's holiday from Tell Tale Travel. This winter, we're offering a personal invitation to Thailand's biggest floral show as part of a specially designed two-week itinerary.

You'll start your private tour in Bangkok in a charming hotel where you will have a cosy bedroom with its own courtyard. You can use this as a base to explore the historic sites by foot or with your driver and you will also be shown 'insider' Bangkok by our country manager in Thailand. You will have plenty of time to explore the beautiful gardens of the city and be shown around a traditional Thai house set in beautiful tropical gardens.

Then, you will take an overnight sleeper train to the north; watch rural life unfold for the day before you settle into your first class cabin. You'll arrive in Chiang Mai, and transfer to a beautiful valley with an abundance of nature and natural waterfalls. Here you will visit the one-of-a-kind 'Royal Flora' event, part of the celebrations for the King of Thailand's 80th birthday. It will showcase over two and half million native and tropical plants, flowers, fruit and herbs as well as innovative landscape gardening, demonstrations and cultural performances.

Whilst you are in the Chiang Mai area, you will be be guests of keen gardeners and enjoy their great hospitality and charmingly artistic garden in which you will have your own beautiful guesthouse. They will take you to the show to ensure you find your way around the vast grounds and can see your favourite plants and flowers be they orchids or ferns. They will also take you around the beautiful botanical gardens and orchid farms of Chiang Mai. You will also go off on your own to visit a unique eco-village, high in the misty hills where the villagers grow their crops in the forests, explore Chiang Mai's temples and night markets as well as have free time. Then, you'll transfer north to Chiang Dao, home to Thailand's third largest mountain. Here, you will have private trips to explore the wildlife sanctuary on the mountain and go birdwatching at dawn to spot tropical birds which are extinct elsewhere. You will also meet hilltribes with a local Thai lady who knows them personally and go for nature walks with her English husband.
