Bustling Bangkok and spectacular seascapes are the stunning backdrops to this spicy holiday in Thailand. Perfect for a winter break, 9 day trip, but you only need to take 5 days off work. Can also be combined with other trips and/or customised.
Plenty of swimming, snorkelling and pool time but this is no 'fly and flop', you're going to discover the food of southern Thailand and how to cook it too.
In the days of spice trade, explorers wandered far and wide. If you make it to Krabi in Southern Thailand, you'll notice the food is different to the rest of Thailand, in some ways closest to the food of Malaysia. Whilst typical Thai food is also eaten, the food here has distinct influences from the Arab traders and the spices of India.
This trip is based in and around Krabi, it's part of a much bigger province (confusingly called Krabi province) and agriculture and fishing are the main work. Succulent pineapples, jackfruit, huge dates, lychees are some of the tropical fruits that you can feast on. Coconuts, the milk of which is a main staple in curries are also grown in the Krabi province. Monkeys are often used to harvest the coconuts, a well-trained monkey can pick as many as 150 coconuts a day.

You'll be picked up at the airport and driven 15 minutes to a small resort where you can settle into your lovely room and relax by the pool. This evening, you'll be taken to dinner at Krabi night market by our local area manager Elizabeth and her husband Sun. One highlight in this area are the sizzling curries, and the way they make roti (similar to Malaysia which influences the cuisine of this area) is quite an art form.
